On a related note, Hell.com [hell.com] used to be one of the best 'Web as Art' sites out there, and it led into a whole rat's nest of other sites, all as snazzy as it. Unfortunately, it seems to have gone away.
It's interesting to look at sites like these -- I always feel like I've wandered into an issue of wired magazine, only with more movement and blink tags. Kind of post-modernist, avant garde

It requires popups to be enabled, and remember to use whatever the keyboard combination to close your browser or program window is, otherwise you can use ctrl-alt-delete to end the browser instance (it creates a full-screen window with no browser interface or window buttons visible after clicking on the button)

Couple sites I think have artistic value.
1. 3d modeling should count, and I really like skinshack [counter-strike.net] the 3dmodels people design for counterstrike. It is art after all, but its the downloads not the site. I liked weapon-hacks [weapon-hacks.com], the 3d work was amazing, but with CS sites going down, its not up anymore.
2. As a site that looks like art, Go-l.com [go-l.com] Looks kinda like apple.com, but the site is pure eye-candy, which is art in my eyes. (And the specs for the machines are eye-candy as well, geek think...)

Some paintings made in Europe in the 19th century are still copyrighted in Europe because not only does Europe have a copyright term of life plus 70 years, but some nations also tack on extra extensions for pre-WWI and pre-WWII works. So unless you block European IPs, you have to follow life-plus-85.
