Ask Slashdot: Is there a C/C++ Code Repository?
Jason Lewis asks a good one:
"Is there a Linux C/C++ code repository?
For example, I was looking for code that
accesses the serial port. Another example
would be that tedious error-checking crap
that I feel guilty about because I don't
check and handle every possible errno
value. I found plenty on the net and hacked
out my project, but it strikes me that a
central location for working,
well-commented, and GPL'ed code would be
infinitely useful. My question is:
"Does such a beast exist, and If Not,
Why Not?"
I would suspect that there is no such beast,
I know of a few attempts, but they either
have dissapeared or have very sparse
information. Codebits
was one such attempt, but the examples
there are very basic and probably only
useful for the novice Perl programmer
(their C/C++ section has only one entry)
Anyone have any others? How about repositories for operating systems other than Linux?
