Napster Servers on an Indian Reservation? 6

I0ta asks: "There's obviously some doubt if Napster would work offshore or not, but why go to the trouble? Why not put some OpenNap on an Indian Reservation? Indian Reservations exist with their own laws, with their own government, with their own security force. Why do you think casinos run by Indian Reservations are so profitable? The government doesn't tax them like they would someone else, and they operate under their own set of laws. You'd have to find a reservation willing to take it, but as we all know, money talks. They may even allow it to take residence there (on paper) for the sake of dealing with money and income taxes. Lately, it seems you can throw a T3 just about anywhere in the country, and if not, there's always fiber."

    That's actually a good idea.

  • Well it would have to be a country who doesn't care about diplomacy at all... do Cuba or Irak have an embassy ? Only them would be willing to piss of the US and do that.

This is what gave it away for me.

  • SALAD BARF! DELI-DUMP SUSPECT NABBED

A gross-out gourmet was caught dumping human waste on a Midtown salad bar - and is suspected in more than a dozen similar stomach-turning incidents, police said.

Workers at the deli grabbed the feces-flinging fiend after they noticed him emptying two bottles of disgusting-smelling liquid onto food trays in the back of the store at around 5:40 p.m., police said.

Cops responding to the bizarre call arrested Arellano and confiscated the bottles, which were sent to the Health Department for testing.

"Oh, it makes me sick just thinking about it," said Alpine customer Dawn Riggins, a 33-year-old beautician from The Bronx. "What kind of person would do that? It's disgusting."

Arellano was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, criminal tampering and public urination.

And in a twist sure to make Midtown workers lose their lunch - or never eat it again - police said they are investigating numerous other incidents at eateries in Penn Station, Grand Central Terminal, and around 42nd Street.

Officials said Arellano has already been identified by witnesses as the man who recently tried to foul the food at Mike's Take-Away Deli in Grand Central, and will soon be charged in that case.

Other suspected victims of the dung-disher in the past few days include a Krispy Kreme, Zaro's Bakery, and Caruso's Pizza in Penn Station, police sources said.

Police are also investigating him for other alleged incidents, officials said.

Police said several proprietors witnessed what they thought was bizarre behavior by a man matching Arellano's description - while others had customers complain of foul odors coming from certain foods.

Deli customer Keshia Williamson said the incident explains why deli salads often taste like, er, garbage.

"I'm sure this happens at other delis, too," said the 21-year-old college student. "The person who did this is an animal. He could've gotten people sick.

"I'm not going to eat anything more from a salad bar."

  • if it is:

Well if its not I would like to point out that America(tm) has/will again abuse the native's rights. If you want to see a war over napster and the mpaa, I bet anything that if your connection to the net was coming directly from American providers, it would be switched off in days. Here is a good idea, but its hard to put it to the test without too much trouble. The key? Put it in a reservation that borders two countrys. Thats right folks, there is an indian reservation that is part of canada and america. So buy lines from both places, and get some sky bandwidth, boom you are going to have a much better time. But then again you have twice the problem and there is nothing that will stop one country from scratching the others back. But an international incident isnt in the usa's best interest. Same goes for canada. However each side could simply take over the reservation on each side. So the us goes into the part on US soil, and canada does the same. But I might be getting carried away.

This doesnt even address the fact that who ever owns the servers will be sued untill they are dead. Just remember the flaw with it being on sealand, your not there.

I hope this is a joke but if its not, nice idea.
But I would rather see what happens when sealand does it first. Then try this with native american's land. Oh yea try and get them to let you do it first, after all its gonna be hard to convice them why they should jeperdize their land. America has screwed them before, nothing is stopping them, certianly not the money backing the mpaa. Its also hard to stop people from running a casino on their own land when nothing needs to come from the area around it (other then power(i think?)) Data lines arent going to piss of the public at large (assuming there isnt a media black out) but power might be considered inhumane. Also whats to stop the mpaa from dosing them? Or even bettter; hijacking their entire network?

And I know that i cant spell.
