UNIX Postscript Conversion Utilities

Jay Bloodworth is looking for a solution to the following: "I'm working on a data driven intranet site for managing the resources related to lesson plans. One of the features I need is the ability to create printable versions of the various resources, which will be in a wide variety of formats: plain text, HTML, images, MS Whatever, Claris Works, Hypercard, etc. While it's not unreasonable to just hand the user the data and let them use the relevant app to print it, it would be nice to give them a postscript file they could print directly."
Jay continues...

"What I need are UNIX based tools that can convert these formats to postscript (or to some intermediate format that can be converted to postscript). If anyone knows of apps (preferable command line and pipe-friendly) that can convert these or other file types to PS, please post a link.
