PC Case Specs? 4

FaustZero asks: " I've been search all over for the mechanical specifications on the AT/ATX PC case. The case that I'm making for my car mp3 player needs a brace to support the ISA/PCI cards and I need the spacing between the screws that hold the cards in the back. At one time I did see a book with the entire PC specifications, but it has long since disappeared and is out of print. My best measurement is 20mm, but the case prevented me from placing the calipers flush with the back plane. Any help is very much appreciated."

  • I have an old edition of this book and it is filled with information about almost everything. It even goes into detail about the beebs made by your bios during the POST. I sure you can find an old copy that has all the information you will need for a couple of bucks.
  • You can find mechanical specs for AT/ATX motherboards in the ATX form factor section of the Platform Developer [teleport.com] site. I believe the dimension you're looking for, the distance between PCI cards, is .8" (20.32mm).
  • It's a bit of a wintel book, but it's a huge book, and a lot of it is specs. If you need specs for something pc related, there's a good chance it will have it. And it includes the XT, AT, baby AT, and ATX specs, including things like voltages and such for the PSU. It should have what you need.

"Can you program?" "Well, I'm literate, if that's what you mean!"
