Ask Slashdot: Graphical RDBMS tool for Linux?

David Warnock wrote in to ask about graphical database entity modeling tools like PowerDesigner from Powersoft, but for Linux instead. Based on his description if something like this does exist for Linux, then it would make Linux even more attractive to Enterprise RDBMS shops! If not, this is another area where Open Source can gain a killer app!
He describes what he is looking for as follows:

"The tool is to allow me to design relational databases. It needs a visual display of the relationships between entities and needs to be able to produce the sql code to actually generate the database for a number of different dbms. There need to be a variery of reports on the model which can be customised for particular target readers. The whole model must support being divided into sub-models as my brain can't cope with the whole thing in one go."

We warn the reader in advance that the proof presented here depends on a clever but highly unmotivated trick. -- Howard Anton, "Elementary Linear Algebra"
